PARK CITY, Utah -- The United States swept the podium in a womens bobsled World Cup on Saturday, with the team of Elana Meyers and Aja Evans winning a gold medal for the second straight day. Jamie Greubel and Lolo Jones tied for second place with Jazmine Fenlator and Lauryn Williams. Jones and Williams are both Olympic veterans, and Williams was making her World Cup debut. It was the first time since February 2001 that American sleds took the top three spots in a womens bobsled race. Meyers and Evans finished two runs in 1 minute, 38.61 seconds. Greubel and Fenlator both drove to times of 1:39.24 to share the silver, a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of German star Sandra Kirasis. "It feels great to be on the podium," said Jones, who won her second World Cup medal as a push athlete. "With bobsled you never know when you are going to be on the podium and how long it will be before you are back on again. It makes you cherish the moments when you are doing well. " A schedule quirk calls for certain sliding disciplines to race twice at various World Cup stops this winter, and in Park City, womens bobsled was due for the double-up. So after winning gold Friday night, Meyers and Evans were back at it early Saturday. Meyers also assumed the series driving lead from Canadas Kaillie Humphries, who was seventh. The World Cup standings determine the starting order for the Sochi Olympics next year, and the earlier start position typically means a racer would be seeing better ice conditions. In the four-man race, Steven Holcomb continued his unbeaten season, teaming with Curt Tomasevicz, Steve Langton and Chris Fogt to pull away in the second run for a victory in 1:34.76. There was a three-way tie after the first four-man run between the Americans, a Russian sled and a German sled, but Holcomb was perfect the second time down the track to edge Germanys Maximilian Arndt by 0.35 seconds. Russias Alexander Kasjanov was third, 0.36 seconds back of Holcomb. "It was a great race and thats what were all here for," Holcomb said. "It was a good day."
